Introducing VitalRPG

Hello and welcome to VitalRPG, a lightweight versatile tabletop gaming system! This post provides some background on how the system originated and plans for the journey ahead. If you’d like to jump right into the system, please check out the Get Started page.

VitalRPG is a collaborative project from a husband and wife team. We wanted to create a system simple enough for anyone, especially new tabletop gamers, to quickly pick up and play. The system needed to also have some degree of depth so that experienced gamers could enjoy it as well. After numerous design sessions (often while taking walks together), we drafted the initial rules for the system.

While the rules went through several iterations, the goal was always to keep the barrier to entry low, keep the system versatile, and keep the setup time as minimal as possible. If a group of friends thinks up a fun story idea, we want them to be playing in that world within minutes.

For now, the system is in open beta and we highly encourage playtesting and feedback. During this time, please note that the Core Rules will be a living document and subject to change. After enough feedback has been collected and changes stabilize, we will announce plans for versioning the rules going forward.
